The idea that people have preferred ways of learning information. The classic example is the VARK model, which stands for Visual, Auditory, Reading/Writing, and Kinesthetic learning styles. A visual learner might love diagrams, charts, and color-coded notes; an auditory learner remembers things better when they hear them (like in lectures or songs); a reading/writing learner likes textbooks and making lists; and a kinesthetic learner learns best by doing hands-on activities or moving around. Many students actually benefit from a mix of styles, and modern research suggests we shouldn’t pigeonhole ourselves into one style only. But knowing about learning styles is still useful — it reminds you to try studying in different ways (draw a mind map, listen to a podcast, act out a concept, etc.) to see what helps you personally understand and remember things best.
