A memory strategy of breaking down information into smaller, manageable chunks so it’s easier to remember. Instead of trying to memorize a long string of data (like 20 vocab words or a phone number with 10 digits), you group them into bite-sized pieces – kind of like slicing a big pizza into small slices. For example, when remembering a phone number, you might recall it as three chunks (123-456-7890) rather than ten separate numbers. Chunking works because our working memory can only hold a few items at once, so grouping information makes the most of that brain space.
